In 2004, in recognition of our past and our future, the IWIRC Board established the Founders Awards, named in honor of our founders, to provide recognition for members and networks, which have provided exceptional contributions to IWIRC.
- The Melnik Award For Exceptional IWIRC Member. The Melnik Award will be awarded to an IWIRC member in good standing who has provided an exceptional contribution, either through efforts over the past year, or for the culmination of her (or his efforts) over a period of years. The award is named in honor of our founding Chair, Selinda Melnik.
- The Ryan Award for Outstanding IWIRC Network. The Ryan Award will be awarded to the IWIRC Network that best exemplified IWIRC in the past calendar year. All chartered IWIRC Networks are eligible. (While each Network will be asked to submit a report to be considered for the award, we welcome nominations from members as well.) The award is named in honor of our founding Secretary/Treasurer, Laureen Ryan.
- The Fetner Award for Outstanding International IWIRC Contribution. The Fetner award will be given to an International (non - US) IWIRC member or network in good standing who has provided an exceptional contribution, either through efforts over the past year, or for the culmination of her (or his efforts) over a period of years. Special recognition is afforded, since international members often have more significant obstacles in dealing with distance from other Networks and members. The award is named in honor of our founding Vice Chair, Martha Fetner.
