Carren Shulman and Caroline Moran are Lauded for Their Achievements

IWIRC New Jersey Network Gets Outstanding Achievement Nod

 
Fairfax, VA – April X, 2014- International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation ("IWIRC") is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2014 Founders Awards. The honorees will receive their awards on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at IWIRC’s Annual Spring Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Carren Shulman, a partner at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP in New York, will be awarded the Melnik Award for exceptional contributions by an IWIRC member.  Caroline Moran, an associate with Maples and Calder in The Cayman Islands, will receive the Fetner Award for exceptional contributions by an international IWIRC member. The winner of the Ryan Award for Outstanding IWIRC Network is the New Jersey Network.

“These winners represent the best of the best of IWIRC,” said Jennifer Meyerowitz of Epiq Systems and IWIRC Chair. “Carren and Caroline have made tremendous contributions to their individual IWIRC chapters as well as our entire organization, and the New Jersey Network is a role model for IWIRC Networks around the world. We look forward to celebrating all of their accomplishments later this month at our Spring Meeting.”

Shulman is currently the co-Chair of IWIRC’s New York Network and serves as an At-Large Director on IWIRC’s board and a member of the Programs Committee. Through her service on IWIRC’s Programs Committee for many years, Carren has enticed some of the finest speakers in the world to present at IWIRC conferences. Additionally, Shulman’s contributions as an IWIRC delegate to the UN Committee on International Trade (UNCITRAL) has been outstanding. Not only has it benefitted and elevated the profile of IWIRC in the international community, but it has also greatly benefited the UNCITRAL organization.  Further, Shulman’s leadership, dedication and effort towards the rejuvenation of the New York Network has helped make the New York Network one of the strongest and most active networks in the IWIRC organization.
 
Moran currently chairs IWIRC’s Cayman Islands Network, and has repeatedly demonstrated the spirit, attitude and approach to networking and participation that IWIRC strives  to foster in its members.  Moran was a speaker at IWIRC’s annual Fall conference in Atlanta where she made an eloquent and impactful presentation on comity between nations and groups.  Moran has strongly advocated for the need to make connections between networks, particularly abroad. In addition, Moran has also been an instrumental part of IWIRC’s UNCITRAL team and has represented IWIRC as a delegate in Vienna at the UNCITRAL meeting.

In 2013, IWIRC-New Jersey reinvented and reinvigorated its network by organizing events that exemplify IWIRC's core mission: commitment to the connection, promotion and success of women in the insolvency and restructuring professions. The New Jersey Network has proven itself as an exceptional Network due to its robust sponsorship capabilities, creative and educational programming, successful community outreach programs, impressive regional programs with other local networks and overall success in the promotion of IWIRC’s mission. The New Jersey Network has served as a role model for other Networks to follow.
