Network Announcement
International Women's Day 2019

Today is International Women's Day (IWD).  IWD has taken place for more than a century, and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women while calling for continued efforts to bring about gender parity.

IWD2019 #BalanceforBetter  is driving for gender balance across the world.  What that means in any one country, industry or profession is a matter of.  Balance between genders is something the world expects and its absence does not go unnoticed.    This is not a question of women succeeding in a "man's world" nor is it about the fall of men, far from it.  It is a question of collaborating to build offices, organisations and societies that enable men and women to lead fulfilling lives because our differences are valued.  You can find more details about IWD here https://www.internationalwomensday.com/.

As a network of professional men and women who have enjoyed world-class educations we are in a position to set examples everyday of our working lives to create environments that embrace the perspectives that men and women bring to the table.  We have the ability and freedom to work and socialise together, and on occasion it is easy to take that for granted.

The events hosted by the IWIRC Cayman network in 2019 so far have brought together members, both men and women, from within the jurisdiction and further afield.

We kicked off 2019 with the inaugural Networking Lunch for IWIRC members attending the ABI (in partnership with RISA) 2019 Caribbean Insolvency Symposium, which was held on 8 January at Luca and generously sponsored by Walkers.  Later in January, both members and non-members set sail across North Sound for our Third Annual Barefoot Beach BBQ at Kaibo.  Attendees were treated to a delicious rum cocktail on arrival at Kaibo with free-flowing drinks thereafter which helped warm everyone up for the much anticipated limbo contest!   A fantastic evening was had by all thanks to the unstinting sponsorship of Campbells and FFP.

In quarter two we are thrilled to be able to offer more junior members of the profession a breakfast seminar that will be run and sponsored by FTI Consulting (Cayman).  This seminar will address essential career skills that lay the foundations of being a confident and inspiring leader in a competitive and global industry.

Thereafter, we delve into cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology in our first technical session of the year, sponsored by Deloitte.

E-vites for these future events - and many more -  coming soon!

We thank you for your support and commitment to date, and look forward to see you at our future events. Should you wish to find out more about sponsorship opportunities with IWIRC Cayman, please contact fiona.mcadam@walkersglobal.com
