Report from the Third Annual IWIRC Barefoot Beach BBQ

On Tuesday 22 January 2019, the IWIRC Cayman Islands Network, generously sponsored by Campbells and FFP, hosted the Third Annual Beach BBQ at Kaibo. While there were some concerns during the day that the unseasonably strong winds might interfere with the pouring of prosecco and over-froth the beers on the boat (accountants and lawyers have never watched the weather forecast so closely!), the insolvency gods ultimately shone down on the North Sound and neither wind nor rain could dampen the festivities.

After a lively boat trip across the sound, attendees were treated to a delicious rum cocktail on arrival at Kaibo with free-flowing drinks thereafter thanks to the generosity of Campbells and FFP. We went back for multiple helpings of the fantastic BBQ spread on offer from Kaibo, including jerk chicken, fresh salads, cayman style fish and amazing rum cake for dessert. The annual limbo competition was won convincingly by Xia Li of Walkers, who is on secondment from Walkers in Hong Kong, and was awarded with a bottle of prosecco in recognition of her impressive skills (it has not been lost on us that the local practitioners have twice in a row been beaten by visiting secondees from Hong Kong – clearly we need to expand the local limbo talent pool).

A fantastic evening was had by all and the IWIRC Cayman Islands Network extends a particular thank you to Campbells and FFP for enabling us to put on such a fantastic event and bring together such a broad cross section of the insolvency and restructuring community in Cayman to kick off 2019.

The IWIRC Cayman Islands Network has a full calendar of events for 2019 and looks forward to seeing you all at their next exciting event.  Watch this space for further information for the next event!
