On March 3, 2016, guests and members of IWIRC Chicago rolled up their sleeves for the eighth annual cooking party at the Chopping Block, located in Chicago’s historic Merchandise Mart. Participants began the evening with a cocktail reception and appetizers, followed by an interactive tapas cooking experience that took members and guests on a journey to Spain. Chefs instructed the members and guests, who then proceeded to peel, chop, mix, bake and fry the night away, while casually networking, nibbling on member creations and enjoying an open bar. These efforts produced a bountiful array of various tapas: patatas bravas, Peppadew peppers stuffed with goat cheese and marcona almonds, albondigas, seafood paella, and churros with chocolate sauce. At the end of the meal, members and guests divvied up the leftovers and shopped (at a special discount) for quality cookware, bakeware and gourmet products from the Chopping Block’s retail store, while looking forward to next year’s cooking lesson.
