Professional Bio:
A native Texan and Washingtonian by choice, Sunny began her bankruptcy career in September 2008 at the height of the financial crisis. Sunny worked at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP from 2008-2015 and served as debtor counsel to Lehman Brothers, Washington Mutual Bank, General Motors, BearingPoint. She also defended AIG in the Federal Court of Claims lawsuit brought by AIG shareholders who sued the U.S. Government for an unlawful taking of property related to the government's bailout of AIG in 2008-2011.
Sunny was Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Sunrise Senior Living from 2015-2020, where she served as a business lawyer supporting numerous departments with legal and risk management advice including human resources, real estate development, asset management, operations, healthcare, dining, information technology, and finance. While at Sunrise, Sunny oversaw the trademarks portfolio, managed claims and litigation, negotiated contracts, and advised senior business leaders and the board of directors. Sunny also served as the lead lawyer heading up Sunrise's COVID-19 taskforce in 2020.
Sunny joined Snell & Wilmer as a partner in the DC office in late 2020 where she enjoys helping clients around the country with contracts, dispute resolution, litigation defense, internal investigations, bankruptcy and restructuring, senior housing, and healthcare matters.
