Professional Bio:

Joanna Diane Caytas is an associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP. Her practice focuses on next-generation methods unlocking underutilized value in distressed assets, corporate restructurings, high-stakes bankruptcy negotiation or litigation, and energy. Previously, Joanna served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Danny J. Boggs on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, sitting by designation also on the Ninth and Eleventh Circuits. She also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Beryl A. Howell, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Joanna draws on her experience as a tax associate at an international law firm in New York, where she focused on tax planning for complex transactions, including private and public mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, private equity, as well as formation and operation of onshore and offshore investment funds, including those investing in digital assets and blockchain technologies.

Joanna’s multilingual background is in STEM, especially in mathematics, nanotechnology, blockchain, digital assets, and related investments. Joanna holds degrees from Columbia University (B.A., mathematics, summa cum laude), Columbia Law School (J.D., Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, Edwin Parker Prize), New York University School of Law (LL.M., Taxation), University of Oxford (M.Sc., Nanotechnology, distinction), and an Advanced Certificate in Global Business Law and Governance obtained at Sciences Po and University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne.
