On a rainy Monday we were pleased to welcome our panel of restructuring experts:

Liz explained the key benefits of the English scheme of arrangement. The speed, the flexibility, the certainty of outcome and the commercial and impartial judiciary - which all together make the UK a trusted restructuring space.
Willem set out how the Dutch scheme - once enacted - will be a real challenger. It certainly looks great on paper, with a confidential scheme and a public scheme that can benefit from recognition under the EU Insolvency Regulation. Whether it will displace the English scheme remains to be seen and much will depend on the outcome of the Brexit politics. One thing is for certain though: don't take your restructuring to France as Stephane reminded the audience.
