Professional Bio:

Chiew Ee has represented a wide range of clients, including multi-national corporations, liquidators, receivers and managers, financial institutions, and foreign clients, in a multitude of disputes at all levels of court in Malaysia and in both institutional and ad hoc international and domestic arbitrations. Her litigation experience includes acting in corporate disputes, claims for breach of fiduciary and directors’ duties, contentious restructuring and insolvency proceedings, fraud litigation and asset tracing proceedings. She routinely works together with audit and forensic investigators in fraud and corporate investigations.

Chiew Ee is included in the Asian Legal Business’ Asia 40 Under 40 list in 2022 which profiles the most accomplished lawyers in Asia under 40 years of age. She was also listed in the Asian Legal Business’ Rising Stars Malaysia list 2022, which showcases Malaysian lawyers under the age of 40 currently doing high quality work and earning accolades from their clients. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2012. She is a Member of the Malaysian chapter of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC).

Chiew Ee has in-depth experience managing commercial disputes, including contentious restructuring and insolvency, with cross-border elements. She is the lead author of the sole practitioner text on private international law in Malaysia titled ‘Commercial Conflict of Laws in Malaysia’ published by Sweet & Maxwell, which has been cited with approval by the Malaysian High Court.
