Professional Bio:

Sarah brings an array of experience in representing individuals and businesses in creditors rights’, bankruptcy, bankruptcy litigation, and commercial litigation matters. Her experience with debtors, creditors, asset purchasers, and trustees supports her wholistic approach to the needs of her clients.  Sarah also serves as a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee for the Southern District of Indiana.

CURRENT EMPHASIS
Sarah works with a wide variety of clients ranging from financial institutions, business debtors, creditors’ committees, shareholders, asset purchasers, small business owners, and bankruptcy trustees. She assists her clients with addressing the complexities of financial distress and finding solutions to a variety of commercial disputes. Sarah represents these clients in both state and federal courts and in out-of-court arrangements. In the course of her representations, Sarah regularly drafts mortgage loan documents including loan agreements, promissory notes, deeds, mortgages, releases and easements.

Sarah also represents creditors, financial institutions, and other entities faced with issues arising from compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Billing Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. She also has extensive experience in review and analysis of business agreements, real estate contracts and lease agreements.

EXPERIENCE
Sarah is admitted to practice in all Indiana and Kentucky state courts, the U.S. District Courts in the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Southern District of Indiana, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois.

EDUCATION
Sarah graduated from Marian University in Indianapolis in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in theology and a peace and justice studies minor. She obtained her juris doctorate, cum laude, from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis in 2012.

INVOLVEMENT
Sarah has given presentations on numerous topics including 2018 Update on Consumer Law (ICLEF, September 13, 2018); Bankruptcy as Way to Collect and Its Implication on Collection Practices (ICLEF, March 9, 2018); FDCPA Compliance for the Indiana Practitioner (NBI, July 13, 2017); Advanced Consumer Bankruptcy Roundtable (IBA, April 27, 2017); and Ethical Issues for Business Bankruptcy Attorneys (ICLEF, December 9, 2016).

Sarah was also a member of Class VX of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Bar Leader Series, was selected as an Indiana Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2018  - 2022 in addition to a Best Lawyer in America in the areas of Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Commercial Transactions / UCC Law, and Mortgage Banking Foreclosure Law from 2019 - 2023.  Sarah was also extremely lucky to be a participant in the NCBJ NextGen Class of 2019 and continues her work serving on the NCBJ NextGen Committee.
