Professional Bio:

Kesha Tanabe is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Minnesota. She is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, the London School of Economics, and the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University.

She began her legal career working for the Attorney General and Solicitor General in New York. Before her judicial appointment, Judge Tanabe was an attorney in private practice in Minneapolis. She is a board-certified Business Bankruptcy Specialist, she was a Subchapter V Bankruptcy Trustee in Region 12, and she taught Bankruptcy at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.  She enjoys mentoring law students and planning educational events through legal organizations.  She is also an active member of the Japanese American Citizens League and the MN Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and she is the first APA woman appointed to the Federal judiciary in the Eighth Circuit.
