IWIRC Announces 2018 Rising Star Awardee

Stanardsville, VA - The International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), the premier international, networking and professional growth organization for women in the restructuring and insolvency industry, recently announced that it has awarded Christina ("Chrissy") Sanfelippo, a bankruptcy attorney at Fox Rothschild LLP and IWIRC Chicago  Programming Co-Chair, its 2018 Rising Star Award. Ms. Sanfelippo, chosen among five semi-finalists, was recognized during IWIRC's Twenty-Fifth Annual Fall Conference Luncheon in San Antonio, Texas on October 28, 2018.

Chrissy is an associate with the firm of Fox Rothschild LLP and has been a member of the Chicago Network since 2016. She focuses her practice on bankruptcy law, representing trustees, receivers and creditors in a range of Chapter 7 proceedings, including preference and fraudulent transfer actions, as well as complex bankruptcy litigation. Chrissy also assists debtors and official committees of unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 proceedings. She serves as Programming Co-Chair for the Chicago Network. As one of her nominators noted, "Chrissy is the exact type of woman that IWIRC aims to recognize as its Rising Star. She is committed to IWIRC and its mission, she is not afraid to step up and help with whatever task is at hand, she works hard to grow and promote IWIRC in Chicago and she is the future of IWIRC."

The four outstanding semi-finalists were:

Corinne Adams is an associate with the firm of Yumkas, Vidmar, Sweeney & Mulrenin, LLC and has been a member of the Greater Maryland Network since 2013. She represents corporate debtors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, and trustees in all aspects of their cases. Corinne is on both the DC and Greater Maryland Network boards. She is active in many roles in these positions, including communications, programming, and secretary. "Corinne is the kind of person who is always promoting IWIRC - looking for new members, inviting people she meets, and looking for ways to enhance the network. She is committed to the success of women in the insolvency and restructuring professions. I am confident she will continue to make a positive impact on IWIRC."

Rachel Bengino is an associate with the firm of Thornton Grout Finnigan, LLP and has been a member of the Ontario Network since 2015. Rachel's practice focuses on restructuring and insolvency, including the enforcement of creditors' rights, receiverships, BIA and CCAA restructuring proceedings, shareholder disputes and creditor/debtor disputes. She serves as the Director of Website and Communications for the Ontario Network. "Rachel has exemplified all tenets of a 'Rising Star' -  she is active within the IWIRC community and singlehandedly helped to enhance the Ontario Network's outreach and the profiles of its members. She simultaneously takes on other leadership roles within the restructuring community, has developed an extensive network at an early stage in her career, while taking responsibility and autonomy on complex restructuring matters. In short, she is a superstar and a role model for other young women in the industry."

Veronica Brown-Mosley is an attorney at the Boleman Law Firm, P.C. and has been a member of the Virginia Network since 2014. She represents debtors in chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy cases. Veronica serves as Co-Chair of the Virginia Network. "Under Veronica's leadership, the Virginia Network has gained significant momentum and made a dramatic turnaround. In her time as co-chair the network has obtained its first sponsorships in almost a decade and grown in membership. Attendance at network events is growing, diversifying, and reaching new members and markets throughout Virginia. Veronica is the driving force behind the creation and maintenance of this momentum. She truly is the fan behind the building fire that is the Virginia network. She is a wonderful example of a young leader in IWIRC. I can think of no better person to be considered for the Rising Star Award."

Bodie Colwell is an attorney with Preti Fleherty and has been a member of the New England Network since 2011. She practices with Preti's Bankruptcy, Creditors' Rights and Business Restructuring group and focuses on supporting bankruptcy, insolvency, and creditors' rights clients. Bodie serves as the Co-Chair of the New England Network. "She has expended extraordinary energy and efforts to increase the reach and accessibility of our Network and events to the women insolvency professionals in the region, and to increase the value of membership for our existing members. It is both an honor and a pleasure to serve with her. Her leadership has been vital to the Network's success."

The Rising Star Award is bestowed upon an IWIRC member with eight or less years of experience in her respective field, who has made considerable contributions to her professional success and displayed a high-level of commitment to advancing IWIRC's mission and enhancing the professional status of women in the insolvency and restructuring profession, at the local, national and/or international levels.
