IWIRC is delighted to announce the 3rd Annual Asia Woman of the Year in Restructuring Award (WOYR Asia) to honour a woman in Asia for her recent contributions to or lifetime achievements as part of the restructuring and insolvency industry. 

The WOYR Asia complements the pre-existing award programme called "Woman of the Year in Restructuring Award (WOYR)" which has been administered by IWIRC internationally since 2006. Winners of that award are typically announced at one of the IWIRC conferences in the United States. 
 
While the WOYR award is open to anyone across the globe, the WOYR Asia is designed specifically to recognise practitioners based in Asia. The winner will be recognised with a trophy and prize money equivalent to USD1,000 which will be donated to a charity of their choice.

Given the uncertainties faced due to COVID-19, we are yet to confirm whether the 2020 award will be presented virtually or at a small in-person event. We will communicate with the winner in advance of presentation to ensure they can be appropriately represented and honoured. 

The award is open to any female professional in the restructuring and insolvency industry based in Asia - including, lawyers, judges, bankers, accountants, turnaround managers, restructuring advisers and academicians. She could be actively engaged in or recently retired from the restructuring and insolvency industry. 

"IWIRC Asia awarded me with IWIRC Woman of the Year in Restructuring (Asia) award for 2019.  I was humbled as the recipient for the Asia region and recognized immediately that it was an honour that I needed to continue to achieve and to strive for.  It was not a time to rest on praises but to continue to lead and to work hard by being at the forefront of the most challenging restructuring and insolvency cases.  The award also signified that I needed to continue to advocate for women and their importance in the workplace. 2020 has been trying times for all of us in Asia and I encourage you to nominate yourself or someone that has demonstrated her leadership and acumen in restructuring and insolvency and will continue to acknowledge a woman's role in the workplace. We have great female leaders in Asia and very deserving of the IWIRC Woman of the Year in Restructuring (Asia) for 2020," said Jackie Walsh, the 2019 Winner.

"I was so honoured to receive this accolade, it is a recognition of the contribution made by women in the restructuring industry in Asia. I hope the award gives as much satisfaction to future generations of women who come forward and make their own valued contributions," said Marie Rowbotham, the 2018 Winner.

IWIRC membership is NEITHER a requirement to make a nomination, nor to be honoured. Self-nominations are permitted. Completed nomination form (1000 word limit) should be sent by email to asia@iwirc.com by 5:00 p.m. Hong Kong time on Friday, 28 August 2020.
