International Announcement
Korea Network Launched!

WIRC is excited to announce the launch of our 47th network, the Korea Network!  The Korea Network, officially approved on November 11, 2020, encompasses a vibrant and growing community of restructuring and insolvency female practitioners in Korea.

As Aruni Weerasekera (Grant Thornton, Hong Kong), IWIRC Advisory Council member states, "I am very exited about having a new network in Asia. Congratulations to the inaugural Korea board on your vision in the potential for IWIRC in Korea, for stepping up even in these extraordinary times when it would have been too easy to postpone going ahead but rather choosing to push forward with tenacity and hope. Best wishes IWIRC Korea."

The Korea Network follows in the footsteps of the six other networks in the Asia region with a dedicated group of women who will form the first board.  After attending past IWIRC events elsewhere in Asia, the Korea Network's founders recognized the need to bring similar opportunities to women in the insolvency practice in Korea.  Because of the increased use of technology and virtual meetings in 2020, the board intends to take full advantage of the opportunity for events not just in Korea but also in conjunction with other Asian networks to "Be Inspired. Be Informed. Be Connected."

The network is off to a great start with two dedicated co-chairs,

Jungmin Lee (AlixPartners, Seoul) and Jiwon Nam (Alvarez and Marsal, Seoul).  Jungmin recently shared: "Thanks to the tremendous support of the IWIRC Board, the launch of Korea Network couldn't have come at a better time. The desire to connect with each other in our profession has only intensified in this pandemic era. I look forward to the enriching experience of Korea Network as part of the IWIRC community."  Jiwon added, "It is with great excitement that we have finally been able to launch a platform for women in this profession to connect and inspire one another. I look forward to bringing together more professionals, having many meaningful discussions and building lasting relationships. It is a great privilege to have the continued support from IWIRC's Asia and global leadership in pushing forward this endeavor."

Information on the new network can be found at https://www.iwirc.com/networks/korea. Please invite any colleagues in Korea about this exciting new opportunity.

Congratulations on joining the IWIRC family! We look forward to seeing the many ways you will grow IWIRC in Korea.
