Professional Bio:
Katharine Battaia Clark represents clients before bankruptcy courts, federal and state trial courts, arbitration panels, and state appellate courts. She focuses her practice on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and litigation, including representation in Chapter 11, 7, and 13 bankruptcy cases in a broad range of contested matters and adversary proceedings.
Ms.Clark has represented creditors in objecting to the adequacy of disclosure statements and confirmation of Chapter 11 plans of reorganization and parties involved in preference and fraudulent transfer litigation.
Ms. Clark also has experience in matters involving general commercial litigation, and her practice includes representing court-appointed receivers in civil litigation matters. Ms. Clark is further committed to including pro bono work and community involvement in her practice.
In addition to IWIRC (Board Member and previous Chair of the DFW Network), Ms. Clark is actively involved in the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association (including the 2018 Class of DBA WE LEAD), and American Bankruptcy Institute. She also sits on the boards of the International Student Foundation and Junior Players. She is admitted to practice in Texas and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Ms. Clark received her J.D., cum laude, from SMU Dedman School of Law in 2004 and her B.A. in Sociology, magna cum laude, from Austin College in 2001.
