Professional Bio:

Dr Robert Hänel is a partner of Anchor, a German law firm specialising in insolvency and restructuring with around 160 employees and 15 offices in Germany. Since beginning his legal career in 1999 he has been appointed by the courts as an insolvency administrator and trustee in insolvency proceedings. In addition, he regularly advises on insolvency and restructuring law, with a focus on international insolvency law.

He is the author and co-author of several publications in this field, including two commentaries on the EIR. He has been a member of INSOL since 1998 and sits on various committees at INSOL International and INSOL Europe. He is a member of the board of the Association of Insolvency Administrators and Trustees in Germany (VID), which he also represents in the EIP (Association of European Insolvency Practitioners' Organisations). In 2020, he was accepted as a member of the International Insolvency Institute (III) and is part of an expert group advising the European Commission on the harmonisation of European insolvency law.
