I was appointed to the bankruptcy bench in February 2004, following nearly 28 years of bankruptcy litigation practice with the law firm now known as Troutman Sanders in Atlanta GA. While at Troutman, I was the chair of the Financial Restructuring group and represented many parties in Chapter 11 cases, although most frequently lenders and financial institutions. I retired from the bench in February 2018 and have been recalled since that date. My principal work now involves mediations in all types of bankruptcy and adversary cases.
I have been active in many bankruptcy organizations, including as President of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, vice president of the American College of Bankruptcy and as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Bankruptcy Institue, Turnaround Management Association and IWIRC.
I have a BA in History, summa cum laude from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY and a JD, cum laude, from Harvard.
