International Announcement
Ireland Network Launched!

Stanardsville, VA-April 27, 2021 The International Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (“IWIRC”) is excited to announce the launch of the Ireland Network. Approved on April 15, 2021, the Ireland Network is IWIRC’s 48th Network! The Network encompasses a vibrant and growing community of restructuring and insolvency practitioners in Ireland.

As Leyza Blanco (Sequor Law, Miami), IWIRC Chair states, “It is exciting to welcome the Ireland Network at such a critical time as the world faces an expected increase in insolvencies resulting from the pandemic. We are eager to continue to expand the opportunities for our members to participate and connect with new members from Ireland and look forward to IWIRC Ireland’s integration into IWIRC’s global network.”

The Ireland Network is an embodiment of the international reach and inspiration of our members as the main proponents for starting the network were Kate Magee and Frances Flynn who were previously involved in IWIRC networks, had attended IWIRC events and who had colleagues across the global network. Following a meeting with Leyza Blanco in Dublin two years ago, the foundations for the Irish network were laid and with encouragement and support from Helen Sevenoaks and Mia Drennan of the London Network, work on building the network began. IWIRC Ireland was created in April 2021 and has been receiving a great response from female practitioners in Ireland. The Network is currently working on planning virtual events and joint events with other networks, such as the London and the Europe Network. It is hoping to have smaller in-person events when it is safe to do so. They look forward to running events and continuing to grow the IWIRC brand of "Be Inspired. Be Informed. Be Connected."

The network is off to a great start with two dedicated co-chairs,

Kate Magee (Grant Thornton, Dublin) shared, “We are delighted Ireland has joined IWIRC’s global network. As Europe’s leading destination for international restructuring, Ireland has much to offer and we look forward to the opportunities this will bring to our members. The pandemic has shown how easy it is for us to collaborate internationally and we are excited to connect with over 1,700 members of the restructuring and insolvency profession worldwide. We look forward to growing the network, to working more closely with our colleagues here in Ireland and to forming relationships with the wider IWIRC community."

“We are delighted that IWIRC Ireland has launched and we are overwhelmed by the response that it has received to date," expressed Frances Flynn (Arthur Cox, Dublin). "There are so many talented and inspiring women working in restructuring and insolvency and the establishment of IWIRC Ireland presents an opportunity for those women to connect. We are excited about growing the network in Ireland and we look forward to collaborating with other IWIRC networks from around the globe.”

Information on the Ireland Network can be found at https://www.iwirc.com/networks/ireland. Please invite any colleagues in Ireland to consider joining IWIRC’s newest network!

The most recent expansion of IWIRC into Ireland is part of IWIRC’s continued growth as a truly international community of restructuring professionals. IWIRC now has networks in 21 countries and on 5 continents. IWIRC is actively looking for opportunities to grow in new markets around the world. If you are interested in starting a network, let us know.

We welcome the Ireland Network into the IWIRC family and look forward to seeing the many ways they will grow IWIRC in Ireland.
